Speedracer 01:56
LYRICS: That's OK why don't you just go on ahead, I promise I won't be too far behind Take it on around the track, see if you can win the flag, your's goes so much faster than mind Speedracer, speedracer You know I think I'll just turn back, I'm not headed anywhere, Out of gas and lost the map just like you said I might It's not that I"m giving up, it's not like I haven't tried Speedracer, speedracer Back down at the starting line, hey now I'm not looking back, why'd you have to go and say that... Speedracer, speedracer

Rewind 02:21
I know you didn't mean the things you said the other night... 'cos if you did it might explain why you're not here right now I'd rather imagine you had a strange reaction to the weather, it should warm up when you get home I'd like to pick up the pieces, but I'm just too scared to move don't wanna disappoint but I"m afraid it's all I do Can we take it from the top, play the scene with less emotion Over the edge from where we started Release me, release me Inside everybody waits for that rare opportunity, say they've found the perfect match outside chance I live and breathe I can't confess to something, something I just don't believe in angels singing overhead, I just don't hear

St. Peter 03:26
I'm about to cross, the twelfth station without anyone to help carry three hundred scraps of my paper don't hold an ounce of truth or relief and I can't take that boat across again last time I almost, lost myself and my way you always know how to pick apples you always get what you want (is it me) and even St. Peter, can't help me row this boat ashore from here where do I fit in (do you) where do I fit into and I can't take that boat across again last time I almost lost myself and my way

about

"SpeedRacer" b/w "Rewind", "St. Peter", was released by Puddle in spring 1995. Produced by Ray Ketchem (now of Elk City), the seven-inch again gained favorable reviews and substantial airplay. Smug Magazine that summer predicted Jenifer Convertible "will be the next great pop band to come out of New York."

Under the Volcano - A gorgeous package (with swell art and faintly green clear vinyl) and by gum, the music lives up to it. Three songs from a NYC band that resists quick comparison. It's no that they're doing something unique and avant-garde, 'cause they're not. It's just that when a band's this talented. I hate to queer their rep with easy tags. I'd call it Punk by the OLD definition, when each new single by each new band brought a thrill of unpredictable promise.. "Speedracer" careens along with hooks galore and chords-o-splendor. "Rewind" had that buoyant yet crhunch (how's that for a stupid phrase?) sound that Soul Asylum hasn't had since Made to Be Broken, and the dirge in #6 "St. Pete" is a mossy old church that erupts in beautiful flames. Lenny Zenith and his chums desere your attention and your money because they give you credit for brains, craft theirm music with rare car and up, pack a wallop. (7") - Sport
